2026 Mercedes Benz G580

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class needs no introduction, and in its electric G 580 form, the icon has never been more expensive to own — or more exposed. This 2026 G 580 was delivered to Ixexotics in Cypress, TX with the kind of brief reserved for serious machines: protect all of it. Not just the front bumper and hood, but every last painted surface, top to bottom, front to rear. The owner wanted the complete program — full vehicle paint protection film, a 5-year ceramic coating package, ceramic window tint, and a final detail that’s easy to overlook: a proper re-installation of the OEM emblems afterward.

The G-Class is a tall, blocky vehicle with acres of flat painted panels and a front profile that punches straight into traffic. In Houston’s highway environment, that makes it one of the highest-impact vehicles on the road. This project was built to armor every inch of it.

Full Vehicle Paint Protection Film

The centerpiece was our most complete coverage option: the Full Vehicle Paint Protection Film Package in clear, applied with XPEL Ultimate — the same film backed by a 10-year XPEL manufacturer warranty. Coverage runs through the entire painted inventory of the vehicle: full front bumper, full hood with wrapped edges, full front fenders, mirror caps, headlights, driver and passenger rocker panels, A-pillars, roof, doors, rear quarter panels, trunk, and rear bumper.

That’s not a front-end wrap with some extra panels. That’s the entire body — including the roof, a surface most shops skip entirely, and the rear bumper, which takes its own beating from parking blocks and curbs. On a vehicle this large, a complete installation is a multi-day operation, and this one was: a five-to-six-day schedule reflecting roughly 120 hours of panel work.

Installation included basic trim removal — handles, flares, trim, and emblems — so the film tucks cleanly behind the components rather than being cut around them, with edges extended and wrapped wherever applicable for a seamless, durable finish. As with any professional PPF installation, small exposed areas can remain on high-tension surfaces where relief cuts or seams are necessary for long-term durability — standard practice, not a compromise. The package also includes a complimentary warranty wash and check two weeks after delivery.

Paint Correction & Ceramic Coating

Before the coating could go on, the paint beneath it had to be as close to perfect as possible. The 5 Year Gold Package starts with a full paint correction and enhancement pass — typically eight to ten hours — systematically removing the swirls, scratches, and hazing that accumulate from factory handling, transport, and dealer prep. On a vehicle with this much flat, reflective bodywork, any remaining imperfection would be on full display; correction is what makes the difference.

With the paint leveled and dead-clean, our team hand-applied ceramic coating panel by panel. Each coated surface was then cured under an infrared heat lamp, which accelerates the bonding process and drives the coating into the paint more quickly and evenly. The result is a harder, more durable finish with improved chemical resistance and water-repellency — engineered for 4–5 years or more of protection, with a check-up two weeks after delivery to confirm everything has settled as it should.

XPEL XR Plus Ceramic Window Tint

The glass received the same standard of protection. All side and rear windows were tinted with XPEL XR Plus premium nano-ceramic film at 20% — the owner’s shade choice — a film rated for up to 98% heat rejection while blocking more than 99% of harmful UV rays. The windshield was done separately with XR Plus at a lighter 50% shade, rated up to 96% heat rejection, keeping glare and solar load down without compromising forward visibility.

For a vehicle the size of a G-Class, the cabin volume is enormous — and so is the heat-load that Texas sun pours through those tall windows. Combined with the film’s near-total UV blockage, the tint protects both the occupants’ comfort and the interior itself: dashboards, leather, and trim stay cooler and fade slower. The 20% side/rear shade also gives the glass a cohesive, purposeful look that suits the G’s presence.

Emblem Rebadging

A detail worth noting: after the film and coating were complete, the OEM emblems were re-adhesive-reinstalled — a proper rebadging instead of simply re-pinning them over fresh film. It’s the kind of finishing step that goes unseen in the final photos but speaks to how the job was handled: everything was removed correctly, done correctly, and put back correctly.

Final Result

The completed G580 is exactly what a full-protection build should look like: a vehicle wrapped head-to-toe in invisible armor, with freshly corrected paint deepened and sealed beneath it, and uniform ceramic tint completing the look. The film reads as nothing at all until the first rock chip doesn’t happen, the first bird bomb doesn’t etch the paint, and the first parking-lot scuff doesn’t reach the clearcoat.
